Het idee is om dit in een interview-achtige setting vorm te geven. En passant komt het functioneren van het Centraal Laboratorium voor Voorwerpen van Kunst en Wetenschap in Amsterdam aan de orde, en IJsbrand’s persoonlijke interesse in filosofie, kunst, theater en antropologie. De werkbesprekingen rond objecten zoals ingesteld door Ernst van de Wetering krijgen bijzondere aandacht, uitgelegd als interdisciplinair object gerelateerd onderzoek, met als kenmerkende voorbeelden de verhalen rond het onderzoek naar een Pabuji schildering, evenals de Achrome van Manzoni; beiden een blauwdruk van hoe later de case studies zijn onderzocht voor Modern Art: Who Cares? Initiatieven die hierop volgden komen aan bod: een nieuwe opleiding speciaal voor de problematiek van moderne kunst restauratie, een internationaal netwerk (INCCA), kunstenaarsinterviews, nieuwe onderzoeksprojecten als Inside Installations en New Strategies in the Conservation of Contemporary Art, de context waarbinnen beide gesprekspartners aan hun PhD onderzoek werkten, en dat uiteindelijk
