Jan Dibbets bespreekt een breed scala aan onderwerpen, van filosofische reflecties tot praktische details over zijn technieken en ervaringen, die een inkijk geven in zijn denken, werkwijze en visie op kunst. Uit het interview blijkt dat hij kunst ziet als een proces van intuïtie en experiment, en benadrukt dat een kunstenaar zich niet moet laten belemmeren door intelligentie of kennis. Kunst gaat over het creëren van iets dat nog niet bestaat, en dit proces moet natuurlijk en organisch verlopen zonder invloed van theoretische ideeën of verwachtingen van anderen. Technisch is hij vooral gefascineerd door de mogelijkheden van fotografie, niet alleen van het apparaat, maar tegenwoordig ook van de mogelijkheden van digitale fotografie, waarvan hij de structuur jarenlang aan de hand van één negatief uit zijn Color Studies verkent. Hij deelt zijn visie op restauratie, en benadrukt dat verbleekte foto’s opnieuw moeten worden afgedrukt, omdat ze dan dichter bij de oorspronkelijke bedoeling blijven. Hij vertelt over zijn archief en zijn eigen stichting in verband met het beheer van zijn nalatenschap. Na afloop van het interview toont hij zijn negatieven in lades en kasten vol documentatie, dat op dat moment ontsloten
