Bij  de aan val van Japan zet de geïnterviewde zich vrijwillig in als militair. Hij wordt reserve officier.Hij beschrijft de stelling boven Lembang waar hij de laatste dagen voor de capitulatie doormaakt. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de capitulatie van het KNIL en gaat in op zijn krijgsgevangenschap.</p><p>1473.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt verder over zijn krijgsgevangenschap. Na de bevrijding krijgt hij een zware militaire training. Hij werd op Bali ingezet. Hij vraagt in juni 1946 demobilisatie aan als hem duidelijk wordt dat het een lange koloniale oorlog in Indië zal worden, een aanvraag die met moeite gehonoreerd wordt. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
