In 1941 werd hij opgeroepen voor de vakantiemilitie. Eerst werd hij opgeleid. Toen het KNIL capituleerde kwam de geïnterviewde in verschillende kampen. Aan het einde van de oorlog werd hij nog in Singapore tewerkgesteld. Tot slot gaat de geïnterviewde in hoe hij een carrière opbouwt in Indië en vervolgens in Nederland.</p><p>1249.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt meer over zijn jeugd. Vanwege het werk van zijn vader werd er vaak verhuisd. Hij gaat kort in op zijn krijgsgevangenschap en zijn korte dienstperiode hierna. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
