Haar ouders zijn geen lid van een politieke partij, maar al vóór de Tweede Wereldoorlog wordt door hen geld ingezameld voor Duitse vluchtelingen.</p><p>Tijdens de oorlog gaat ze, samen met haar vader, voor de illegale Waarheid werken. Haar man zit ondergedoken wegens dienstweigering. Hij werkt voor de illegale Trouw.<br>In 1945 wordt CPN07 lid van de CPN en ze blijft dat tot 1984. Ook wordt ze actief bij het lokale Vrouwencomité en later bij de Nederlandse Vrouwen Beweging (NVB), waar ze ook voorzitter van wordt. Namens de CPN zit ze jarenlang in de gemeenteraad.</p><p>Hoewel CPN07 zich niet altijd positief uitlaat over feministen zet ze zich wel in voor 'de vrouwenzaak'. In de jaren zeventig schrijven de vrouwelijke gemeenteraadsleden met de hulp van vrouwenorganisaties twee vrouwennota’s. Deze worden door de hele gemeenteraad aangenomen. CPN07 is medeoprichter van een  anti-discriminatiebureau en een lokaal initiatief. Later raakt ze betrokken bij een lokaal 4 mei Comité. CPN07 wordt veelvuldig genoemd in het proefschrift van Jolande Withuis: 'Van opoffering tot heroïek'.</p><p>De aanleiding voor dit interview was het Aletta project om levensverhalen van vrouwen vast te leggen die (actief) lid waren van de Communistische Partij Nederland (CPN) en tenminste 14 waren toen de Tweede Wereldoorlog Na de oorlog verdween echter hun aureool van moed en verzet al snel onder invloed van de Koude Oorlog.</p><p>In dit project zijn de persoonlijke ervaringen van een aantal CPN-vrouwen op beeld vastgelegd. Openhartig vertellen ze over hun politieke overtuiging, het lidmaatschap van de Communistische Partij Nederland, de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de jaren erna, toen de CPN in een isolement raakte.</p><p>In veel gevallen waren de vrouwen al vroeg bewust van de opkomst van het fascisme. Vanaf 1933 maakten zij mee hoe Duitse vluchtelingen werden opgevangen door familie of bekenden. Velen raakten een paar jaar later betrokken bij de Spaanse Burgeroorlog. Verzet bieden tegen de Duitse bezetter was voor hen een vanzelfsprekende keuze.</p><p>In de interviews vertellen zij over hun ervaringen als koerierster, distributeur van bonnenkaarten of bezorger van de illegale Waarheid. In sommige gesprekken gaat het ook over het gewapend verzet, internering en onderduik. Kenmerkend is dat alle vrouwen nadrukkelijk praten over de consequenties van dit alles voor hun verdere (politieke) leven.
