Zijn beide ouders waren Indisch. Hij vertelt hoe hij als kind het begin van de bezetting meemaakte. Hij beschrijft hoe langzaam de bezetting steeds duidelijker werd. In de regio waar hij woonde, kamen verschillende kampen. De geïnterviewde beschrijft hoe moeilijk het was om aan eten en andere benodigdheden te komen</p><p>1221.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de bevrijding. De bersiap tijd brak aan. Zijn leven werd beheerst door honger en angst. De geïnterviewde ging met zijn broers in een beschermd kamp. De situatie werd steeds dreigender. Uiteindelijk werden ze geëvacueerd en kwamen ze in verschillende kampen. Via de radio hoorde hij over de strijd. In deze onrustige tijd ging de geïnterviewde naar school. De politionele acties waren nu aan de gang. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
