Ze was leerling-verzorgster in de crèche t.o. de Hollandsche Schouwburg van waaruit veel Joodse kinderen weg gesmokkeld zijn naar onderduikadressen.<br><br>Ze vluchtte vanuit Nederland naar België. Vlak na de bevrijding werd ze als hulpverleenster van het Engelse Rode Kruis naar Bergen-Belsen uitgezonden om frontwerkzaamheden te verrichten. Ze zette daar i.o.v The American Joint Distribution Committee een kinderdagverblijf op. Ze ontmoette daar haar Zwitserse man Max Goldberg en woonde met hem in Bazel jarenlang om de hoek van de familie Frank/Elias. Ze kent de familie Frank (o.a. de oma van Anne Frank) daarom goed. Later emigreren ze naar de V.S. Otto Frank logeerde regelmatig bij hen, waardoor ze veel weet van zijn naoorlogse
