Zijn grootvader was de eerste arts van Indonesische afkomst en zijn vader werkte voor het binnenlands bestuur. Op 9 jarige leeftijd kwam deze geïnterviewde met zijn moeder en zusje naar Nederland. Kort na de bevrijding door de Engelsen sloot hij zich aan bij de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten. Zijn eenheid moest het KNIL aflossen, zij zouden daartoe een opleiding volgen in Australië. Een communistische groepering aldaar was echter fel gekant tegen hun gezagsbataljon, waardoor het werd omgevormd tot een algemeen bataljon: 2-25 RI. Gedurende de gehele missie heeft hij als hospitaalsoldaat gewerkt, eerst in Malakka en vervolgens vanaf eind maart 1946 in Soerabaja bij de X-brigade. Zij namen daar het werk over van de mariniers. Dagelijks ging hij alle legerposten af en desnoods samen met de arts terug, om de zieken te behandelen. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
