Na de oorlogsverklaring aan Japan moest haar vader als dienstplichtige naar Palembang. Haar moeder moest het onderwijs overnemen. Hierdoor konden zij pas laat evacueren. De Japanse bezetting heeft de geïnterviewde als heel angstig ervaren. De geïnterviewde leefde in één huis met tien gezinnen. Zij had angst voor de Japanners die elk moment konden binnenvallen, maar ook angst voor haar toekomst.</p><p>1146.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt verder over de Japanse bezetting en gaat in op de bersiap tijd. Zij werd geïnterneerd in een vrouwenkamp. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de onzekerheid in deze periode. Ze vertelt over de evacuatie uit dit kamp en hoe zij en haar ouders het leven weer op wisten te bouwen. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
