Ze groeide op in een  Indisch milieu. Toen de oorlog met Japan uitbrak zat zij op de lagere school in Depok, West-Java. Zij vertelt over de bezettingstijd. Tijdens de bersiap werd de geïnterviewde en haar familie gegijzeld door Indonesiërs.</p><p>1611.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe zij bevrijd werd door Gurkha's. Ze kwam hierna terecht in een beschermingskamp en werd later weer herenigd met haar familie. Uiteindelijk ging ze naar school in het Tjideng-kamp. De geïnterviewde beschrijft de chaotische situatie van deze tijd. In 1947 werd het gezin naar Nederland geëvacueerd. Van 1950 tot 1954 leefde de geïnterviewde weer in Indië. Zij ging naar de hbs. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
