Toen hij daarna in Den Haag hoorde dat officieren zich tijdens uitzendingen zo te buiten zouden gaan aan vrouwen en drank, opperde hij eens wat oudere officieren mee te sturen, die thuis een gezin hadden. Prompt werd hij zelf in 1993 als zodanig naar Oeganda en Rwanda gestuurd met de UNOMUR-missie. Hij kwam in een ploeg met militairen uit Bangladesh, Brazilië, Botswana en later Senegal en had als taak het gebied goed in kaart te brengen. Zijn ploeg maakte een gijzeling door en het was frustrerend dat er met alle meldingen die deze man deed van de gruwelijke misstanden in het gebied niets leek te gebeuren in hogere VN-kringen. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews.
