De geïnterviewde ging na deze periode bij het KNIL en werd als korporaal geplaatst op de luchtmachtbasis in Batavia. Later diende hij in Medan. De geïnterviewde ging na de soevereiniteitsoverdracht naar Nederland. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
