Vader en zoon van Vloten starten met een taxibedrijf, later kwamen de rouw- en trouwauto's. De Tweede Wereldoorlog was de tijd van paard en wagen. Na de oorlog werden nieuwe activiteiten ontplooid o.a. autoverhuur, autorijschool, transport en de bekende Esso benzinepomp. Door de grote toename van het autobezit heeft dit echte familiebedrijf gekozen voor verkoop en onderhoud van auto's. Na Daf werden Mazda en Volvo de merken die verkocht werden op de Meeuwenlaan. In 1986 wordt het pand Slijperweg aangekocht en werden Mazda en Volvo gescheiden. De naam van Vloten Car werd gekozen voor deze tweede vestiging. Het huidige Mazda-pand aan de Draaierweg werd aangekocht in 1993. Op deze locatie hebben ze een grotere showroom en werkplaats. In 2006 hebben zij het merk Ford aan het assortiment toegevoegd i.v.m. de grote synergie met het merk Mazda.In 2008 hebben ze een Oorkonde van Waardering gekregen van de fabrikant voor het 30 jaar vertegenwoordigen van het Merk Mazda in Amsterdam-Noord. Hij vertelt over de ontwikkling van de zaak en over uitdaging waar ze nu voor staan. Remko heeft tijdens de vergadering van het Bazenbondje zijn zorgen geuit over een Broodfonds binnen de vereniging.
