Hij volgende zijn opleiding te Bandoeng vlak voor de Japanse inval. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe hij in Tjilatjap krijgsgevangene wordt gemaakt. Hij gaat uitgebreid in op zijn krijgsgevangenschap en vertelt daarbij over de tocht naar Japan in konvooi, waarbij een ander schip wordt gebombardeerd. Tot slot vertelt de geïnterviewde over de bevrijding.</p><p>1705.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt in dit gesprek verder over zijn inzet als KNIL-officier na 1945. Een deel van de tijd verblijft hij te West-Borneo. Hij is belast met taken rondom het opstellen van het West-Borneo statuut. Later wordt de geïnterviewde elders ingezet om het smokkelen terug te dringen. De geïnterviewde vertelt vervolgens over zijn ervaringen van de twee politionele actie. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
