Hij vertelt over het werk op de plantages en de loonadministratie waarvoor hij verantwoordelijk was. In 1941 kwam hij bij het KNIL. Hij vertelt over zijn overgave aan de Japanners en gaat in op zijn tijd als krijgsgevangene.</p><p>1371.2 Na de bevrijding kwam kwam hij bij de verbindingsdienst in het algemeen hoofdkwartier in Batavia. Hij keerde terug naar zijn onderneming die weer helemaal opgebouwd moest worden. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe dit ging en vertelt over zijn gedwongen vertrek eind jaren '50.</p><p>1371.3 De geinterviewde vertelt in meer detail over de situatie op de ondernemingen. Het was gevaarlijk op straat, bendes zorgden voor onrust. De geïnterviewde kreeg bericht dat zijn onderneming moest sluiten. Zijn onderneming werd nu bewaakt tegen bendes. Hij vertelt over de vakvereniging, de bendes en de TNI en hoe hij met deze groepen omging. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
