Hij heeft als reclamemaker wat projecten op zijn naam staan die landelijke bekendheid hebben gekregen. Sjoerd is voor zijn werk van Arnhem naar Amsterdam verhuisd omdat hier ‘de betere bureaus’ zaten.<br>Hij zoekt het in zijn dagelijks leven niet in het grote, maar kiest voor verbinding met zijn omgeving. Het was een reden voor hem om zich aan te sluiten bij het Bazenbondje dat ook een lokale binding heeft. Hij is nadrukkelijk voorstander van het nieuw leven inblazen van de oude reden tot oprichting<br>van ‘Ons Belang’: een ziektekostenverzekering voor de kleine ondernemer. Hij zegt dat het veel potentie heeft voor vooral de Nieuwendammerdijkers, vanwege het relatief grote aantal kleine ondernemers. Sjoerd van Heumen is er van overtuigd dat op het moment dat je het nut weer terugbrengt binnen de vereniging, de gezelligheid ook toeneemt.
