Tijdens de bezetting verhuisde het gezin naar een onderneming. Andere gezinnen verdwenen, maar het gezin van de geïnterviewde kon blijven. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe hij aan mensen diensten verleende in deze tijd.</p><p>1318.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over het werk van zijn vader tijdens de bezetting. De geïnterviewde bleef buiten het kamp. Hij vertelt hoe hij samen met andere Indische en Indonesische jongens van de Japanners moest leren exerceren, met een scherpe stok van bamboe. Hij zag hoe Indonesische schooljongens lange marsen moesten rennen. Na de capitulatie werkte de geïnterviewde voor het Rode Kruis en bezorgde onder andere melk in kamp Tjideng. Na de eerste politionele actie ging de geïnterviewde met het Rode Kruis naar Poerwakarta om een kliniek te helpen opzetten. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
