De geïnterviewde is Chinees en vertelt over de Chinese gemeenschap in Indië  en gaat in op Chinese gebruiken. Kort vertelt de geïnterviewde hier over de Japanse bezetting.</p><p>1708.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt in dit gesprek eerst verder over de Chinese samenleving in Indië. Hij vertelt hoe hij de Japanse bezetting beleefd heeft. Chinese feestdagen werden nog steeds gevierd maar minder overdadig. Ondanks zijn goede contacten met hooggeplaatste Indonesiërs was hij na de capitulatie wel bang. Hij had toen nog weinig vertrouwen in de Republiek. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
