In 1946 vertrekt hij met een groep van tweehonderd cadetten naar Indië. De geïnterviewde verblijft onder andere in Batavia en Soerabaja en komt bij het KNIL. Hij gaat in op de organisatie van het leger. Geregeld kwam de geïnterviewde in gevaarlijke situaties terecht.</p><p>1470.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over een confrontatie met de TNI. Hij vertelt over de acties en patrouilles van zijn troep. In 1947 krijgt de geïnterviewde een logistieke functie en later wordt hem de taak opgelegd van de voorbereiding van de tweede politionele actie.</p><p>1470.3 De geïnterviewde was KNIL officier en vertelt hoe hij hoger in rang kwam. Hij wordt verschillende keren overgeplaatst. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn taken. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
