Hij kwam de 7-december divisie achterna, doordat extra infanteristen nodig waren. Hij ging mee als compagniescommandant. De situatie bij aankomst was totaal onduidelijk en niet goed geregeld, ook moest de geïnterviewde onervaren mannen inzetten. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de organisatie en de inzet van het leger. Na de eerste politionele actie werd de geïnterviewde ingezet bij het KNIL. Hij vertelt over zijn verschillende werkzaamheden en geeft vervolgens geeft zijn visie op het verloop van de soevereiniteitsoverdracht.</p><p>1677.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werkzaamheden te Sumatra in verband met de regelgeving rondom grondgebruik. Hij kreeg te maken met het probleem van onwettige occupatie van de grond. De geïnterviewde beschrijft de veranderingen in het gebied na de soevereiniteitsoverdracht. Corruptie kwam nu veel voor. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
