Hij is naar Nederland verhuisd. Na zijn moeilijke schooltijd meldde hij zich bij de marine. Hij werd opgeleid tot vliegtuigmonteur. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de verschillen tussen Nederland en Indie. Hij wilde Indie terughebben en ging daarom bij de marine. De geinterviewde werd uitgezonden naar Nieuw-Guinea. Hij vertelt over zijn standplaats in Biak en hoe hij ook naar Sorong ging met de Catalina. Hij vertelt over het kamp, wat hij deed in zijn vrije tijd en hoe goed het contact was met de Papoeas. De geïnterviewde beschrijft een dagindeling en vertelt uitgebreid over vliegtuigen en zijn werkzaamheden bij het vliegtuigonderhoud. Hij merkte weinig van de spanningen met Indonesie, wel werd er al veel munitie in de vliegtuigen geladen. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn verblijf op het vliegkampschip Karel Doorman. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
