Ze vertelt over haar schooltijd en gaat op de reactie in Indië na de Duitse inval in Nederland. Vervolgens vertelt de geïnterviewde over de Japanse inval in Indië en gaat in op de bezettingstijd. De geïnterviewde kwam in 1943 in de beschermde wijk Darmo te wonen.</p><p>1640.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de situatie in de beschermde wijk. Ze gaat in op de gewelddadige instelling van de Japanners en op hun houding jegens de Hollanders in de wijk. Tegen het einde van de oolrrg wordt de situatie steeds slechter. De Japanse capitulatie was merkbaar toen er de rantsoenen werden verhoogd en er meer gesmokkeld kon worden. Op 21 augustus vertrekt ze met een groep onder bewaking van Heiho's in een groep per geblindeerde trein naar Ambarawa, waarna ze naar kamp Banjoebiroe 12 lopen. Dit kamp is overvol. Op 24 augustus wordt het nieuws van de Japanse capitulatie bekend gemaakt. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de bersiaptijd. Mensen uit het kamp werden geëvacueerd. Tot slot vertelt de geïnterviewde over het hervatten van haar schooltijd in Batavia en gaat zij in op het vertrek naar en nieuwe leven Nederland.</p><p>De genoemde echtgenoot van de geïnterviewde is ook geïnterviewd voor het SMGI-project. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
