De beveiliging van de enclave leek hem een onmogelijke opdracht,  maar het kwam niet in hem om op te weigeren. Binnen de enclave was geen “freedom of movement “ en zijn mannen hadden moeite met de “rules of engagement”.  Ze voelden zich vaak machteloos. Desondanks probeerde hij als leider positief te blijven en realiseerde hij zich zijn voorbeeldfunctie. Het is hem gelukt om rust in de enclave te bewaren en hij heeft veel goeds voor de bevolking kunnen doen. Hij is trots op zijn eenheid. In die zin was het een geslaagde onderneming. Eenmaal thuis volgde hij de val van de enclave op het nieuws. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
