Zij was nog jong toen de oorlog uitbrak. De geïnterviewde verhuisde toen met haar moeder. Haar vader kwam als krijgsgevangene in een kamp. De geïnterviewde moest tegen het einde van de oorlog in loopgraven overnachten vanwege de luchtgevechten boven het dorp. Indirect maakte zij de gevolgen van de politionele acties mee. In 1947 vertrok het gezin naar Nieuw-Guinea.</p><p>1294.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de gemeenschap in Nieuw-Guinea, de hiërarchie was hier veel minder sterk dan in Indië. Vanwege de overplaatsingen van haar vader werd er veel verhuisd. In 1949 woonde het gezin weer in Indië. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de Azis-affaire. Het gezin verhuisde hierom terug naar Nieuw-Guinea. De geïnterviewde beschrijft het leven daar en gaat in op haar schooltijd en werk. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
