Hij zat bij de luchtbeschermingsdienst. Zijn vader en broer werden geïnterneerd maar hij bleef buiten het kamp. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe hij rondkwam tijdens de bezetting. Tegen het einde van de oorlog moest de geïnterviewde met een groep andere Indische jongeren op een onderneming werken. Hij vertelt over de angstige bersiap tijd. in 1946 meldde hij zich vrijwillig voor een militaire opleiding bij de luchtmacht.</p><p>1364.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werk als radiotelegrafist. Hij werd uitgezonden naar een afgelegen gebied. Het werd steeds gevaarlijker daar. Indonesische infiltranten vanuit Java zorgden voor onrust in het gebied. Hierna ging hij als burger aan het werk in Bandoeng en later in Batavia. De geïnterviewde schetst een beeld van het leven in Indië in de '50. Hij wilde zo lang mogelijk in Indonesië blijven. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
