Hij werd benaderd door de Koninklijke Luchtmacht die verpleegkundigen zocht. Bij de Luchtmacht volgde hij zijn militaire opleiding. Hij werd gestationeerd op Soesterberg. Het was een leerzame tijd. De locatie beviel de geïnterviewde goed. Hij werd sergeant-majoor vliegverpleegkundige. Hij werd gevraagd om naar Cambodja te gaan en ging hier mee akkoord. De geïnterviewde vertelt over het opwerkingsprogramma samen met het Korps Mariniers. Hij vloog naar Thailand, naar de vliegbasis U-Tapao. Hij vertelt over de geneeskundige zorg in Thailand en de organisatie van de zorg voor militairen. Hij spreekt over de ziektes die voorkwamen. Zorg verlenen in Cambodja werd per vliegtuig of helikopter gedaan. De geïnterviewde is nooit betrokken geraakt bij beschietingen. Hij ziet zijn missie als een rijke ervaring waarbij hij veel mensen heeft kunnen helpen. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
