In 1940 vertrok hij naar Indië. Hij vertelt over de activiteiten van de marine in Indië, de geïnterviewde werkte onder andere bij de onderzeedienst. De oorlog in Indië werd onderschat. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de verliezen en beschrijft de strijd. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de afloop van de oorlog en de politieke situatie van toen in Nederland. In 1947 werd de geïnterviewde opnieuw naar Indië uitgezonden, in de eerste instantie tegen zijn zin in omdat hij niet betrokken wilde zijn bij het onafhankelijk worden van Indonesië.</p><p>1075.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de onderhandelingen met de republikeinen begin 1948. Hij gaat in op de plannen die besproken werden voor de toekomst van Indië. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de achtergronden van de tweede politionele actie. Hij vertelt over het optreden van Beel. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
