Voor de oorlog zag hij al KNIL soldaten voorbij komen. Tijdens de Japanse bezetting kon hij buiten het kamp blijven. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe hij de Japanners toen heeft ervaren. De geïnterviewde vertelt vervolgens over zijn ervaringen van de bersiap tijd en de politionele acties. Hij verbleef in Malang. Het was een chaotische en heel gevaarlijke periode. Tot en met 1949 doorliep de geïnterviewde de hbs.</p><p>1634.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de periode waarin hij aan het werk ging. Daarbij gaat de geïnterviewde ook in op de soevereiniteitsoverdracht en hoe hij hier tegenover stond. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
