Er was weinig te eten en de Papoea's weigerden dienst. Vanuit deze situatie werd er jacht gemaakt op Indonesische infiltranten. Het kader van de mariniers bestond enkel uit beroepsmilitairen -  een stuk ouder en met veel ervaring - waar dit bij de Koninklijke Landmacht met veel dienstplichtigen heel anders lag. Wat dat voor gevolgen kon hebben, bleek toen de mariniers in een hinderlaag liepen, omdat de adviezen van de KM niet door de KL eerste luitenant waren opgevolgd.<br><br>Met de geïnterviewde zijn twee of meer interviews gehouden. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
