Tijdens de mobilisatie ontmoette hij zijn vrouw. Hij was gelegerd in Hoek van Holland en kon steeds weer even naar huis en werd dan weer opgeroepen bij 39 RI. Zijn peloton bestond uit dienstplichtige jongens uit de grensstreek, \"meer Duitsers dan Nederlanders\" zegt deze man. Hij lag gelegerd bij Staelduinen, aan de Waterweg. Bij de Duitse inval kwam hij hier zwaar onder vuur te liggen en verloor verschillende van zijn jongens én zijn kapitein. De Duitsers bleken veel betere kaarten van het gebied te hebben en waren ook veel beter getraind. Later is deze man ook nog naar Indië uitgezonden, maar dit eerste gesprek gaat vooral over de tweede wereldoorlog in Nederland.<br><br>Met de geïnterviewde zijn twee of meer interviews gehouden. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
