In 2005 is, in het kader van de 60ste herdenking van de bevrijding van Venlo, de serie uitgezonden door Omroep Venlo in het radioprogramma Venlo Plus.<br><br>In dit zevende deel van de uitzending spreekt Charles van den Berg met Miek van Thiel-Hoofd. Zij is geboren in 1929 te Venlo. Haar vader was hoofd van de Gerardus Majellaschool in de binnenstad. Zij heeft alle dertien bombardementen in de kelder meegemaakt. Daar zat zij met een groot aantal mensen ondergedoken. Ze hadden eerder een grote voorraad eten ingeslagen, waardoor ze niet zo vreselijk honger leden. Op de verjaardag van haar vader, 17 januari 1945, is het hele gezin naar Bolsward geëvacueerd. Ze was toen 15 jaar. Een deel ging te voet naar Kouwekerke. Vervolgens gingen ze per trein naar een onbekende bestemming. Dit duurde 3 dagen. Ze arriveerden via Duitsland weer in Nederland in Oldenzaal. Vanuit daar gingen ze door naar Bolsward. Ze werden onderverdeeld bij vier gezinnen. Daar, in Bolsward, schreef haar vader een lied vol verlangen om Venlo weer te zien. Ze zaten hier van januari tot en met februari 1945. Haar vader werd teruggevraagd naar Venlo om de school te heropenen. Het gezin kon hierom terugkeren naar Venlo. Het huis stond er nog, maar het was door de Duitsers in gebruik geweest en zij hadden een puinhoop van het huis gemaakt.
