Hij vertelt over het werk op een onderneming. De geïnterviewde beschrijft het productie proces en gaat in op het salaris. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de stratificatie in de Indische samenleving. De Japanse bezetting kwam als een verassing. De geïnterviewde kwam toen bij het KNIL.</p><p>1196.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de chaos bij het KNIL. In Bandoeng wordt hij krijgsgevangene gemaakt. In Japan zit hij wanneer Japan capituleert. De geïnterviewde komt uiteindelijk in een doorgangskamp en hierna gaat hij weer bij dezelfde werkgever op een onderneming aan het werk. Na verlof in Nederland keert de geïnterviewde in 1947, net na de eerste politionele actie, weer terug naar Indië met goede moed. De geïnterviewde is als technologisch adviseur verantwoordelijk voor de wederopbouw van de ondernemingen van het bedrijf en bezoekt in deze periode verschillende ondernemingen.</p><p>1196.3 De geïnterviewde vertelt hier meer over zijn werkzaamheden in kampen in de bersiap tijd. Ook vertelt de geïnterviewde verder over de periode hierna, wanneer hij weer werkzaam is op een onderneming. De geïnterviewde schetst een beeld van hoe Indië er in die tijd uit ziet. De samenleving is drastisch verander, er is spanning, maar het leven wordt weer opgepakt. De geïnterviewde beschrijft hoe langzaamaande nationalisatie doordringt waardoor hij zich gaat richten op een toekomst in Nederland. Als ambtenaar heeft de geïnterviewde goede kansen. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
