Hij kwam in de onderofficiersopleiding en in de voormobilisatie werd hij in de rang van dienstplichtig sergeant gelegerd te Bellingwolde. Op 10 mei 1940 werd hij overgeplaatst naar de Afsluitdijk. Hij vertelt over de strijd in de meidagen van 1940 en de nasleep daarvan. In de bezettingstijd kwam hij bij de brandweer, als onderdeel van de Luchtbescherming, te Groningen. Hij werd als verzetsman gearresteerd, verhoord en opgesloten in Vught. Direct na de bevrijding meldde hij zich als oorlogsvrijwilliger. Hij werd in januari 1946 uitgezonden naar Indië met het Groningse bataljon, 1-12 RI. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews.
