Hij kwam bij de Garde Grenadiers. Hij was op de Waalsdorpervlakte gelegerd. Hij vond het kamp hier niet optimaal. In 1940 vetrok zijn eenheid naar Nijmegen. Hij vertelt over de Meidagen en hoe hij krijgsgevangen werd gemaakt. Eerst werd hij ondergebracht op een boerderij in Duitsland en daarna naar Neubrandenburg gebracht. Hij vertelt over de reis en het voedsel. Terwijl hij in het kamp zat werkte hij bij een boer. Het was zwaar om in het kamp te leven. Na terugkeer moest hij dit eerst goed verwerken. Hij ging werken en studeren maar moest later weer opkomen in Amersfoort. Hij ging naar Altengrabow. Hij beschrijft dit kamp. Hij moest gaan werken in Aschersleben. De geinterviewde vertelt hoe het daar was, over het voedsel , de Rode kruis pakketten en zijn werk. Er waren bombardementen op de fabriek. Na zijn bevrijding ging hij lopend naar de demarcatielijn en werd via Frankrijk naar huis gestuurd. De geinterviewde ziet deze periode als een leerschool. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
