Hij geeft een beeld van het leven in Indië en vertelt wat hij van de soevereiniteitsoverdracht meekreeg. In 1960 kwam de geïnterviewde in Nieuw-Guinea te werken, waar hij met handelsmaatschappijen te maken had.</p><p>1344.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de Nederlandse gemeenschap in Merauke. Hij beschrijft hoe de spanningen langzaam opliepen. Er kwam veel hoog bezoek langs, waar de geïnterviewde soms contact mee had. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe de landmacht paraat stond. De geïnterviewde vertelt over Indonesische infiltraties en gaat in op het vertrek naar Nederland. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
