De geïnterviewde vertrekt als oorlogsvrijwilliger naar Indië. In oktober 1946 wordt hij benoemd tot officier voor speciale diensten. In zijn eerste weken gaat hij in Tangerang met een KNIL-eenheid op patrouille. Daarop wordt hij overgeplaatst naar het havencommando in Tandjoengpriok. Na de Japanse capitulatie werd hij door de Indonesiërs gevangen gezet en ontsnapte ternauwernood aan de dood. Hierna gaat hij als burger in Indië aan het werk en blijft hier tot halverwege de jaren '50.</p><p>1409.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn functie bij een im- en export firma in Indië.De geïnterviewde vertelt over het bedrijf en de ontwikkelingen hiervan in de jaren '50. Hij vertelt hoe het leven en werken in Indië steeds moeilijker wordt. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
