Ze heeft in haar jeugd enige tijd in een commune van Kees Boeke gewoond. Vanaf 1933 vangen haar ouders vluchtelingen uit Duitsland op en later Joodse onderduikers. Ook worden er tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog illegale kranten, waaronder De Waarheid, bij haar ouders thuis gestencild.</p><p>CPN06 houdt zich bezig met koerierswerk en is betrokken bij de oprichting van het communistische jeugdblad 'Een', later 'Jeugd' geheten. Vanwege de verzetsactiviteiten wordt haar vader in 1942 door de Duitsers opgepakt en hij overlijdt in 1945 in Dachau.</p><p>Ze ontmoet haar echtgenoot, die ook actief is in het verzet, bij haar ouders thuis en ze trouwen in 1945. Hij is hoofdredacteur van een lokale editie van De Waarheid, lid van het dagelijks bestuur van de CPN in hun district en later districtssecretaris en lid van het partijbestuur. Daarnaast is hij gemeenteraadslid voor de CPN. Hij wordt enkele jaren later hoofd van de afdeling propaganda van de CPN en later dat jaar ook lid van het dagelijks bestuur van de CPN. Hij is betrokken bij de organisatie van de jaarlijkse zomerfeesten. Het gezin verhuist in 1951 naar Amsterdam.</p><p>Tijdens het jaarlijkse partijcongres wordt de echtgenoot van CPN06 niet herkozen wegens 'rechtse' afwijkingen en bedankt hij als lid van de CPN. Naast haar werk heeft CPN06 een wijk van Pegasus en is ze lid van de Nederlandse Vrouwenbeweging (NVB). Na de geboorte van hun kinderen wijdt ze zich vooral aan de zorg voor huishouden en gezin. Nadat ze de CPN verlaten hebben, worden ze door familie en vrienden met de nek aangekeken. Ook worden ze in de gaten gehouden door de Binnenlandse Veiligheidsdienst (BVD).</p><p>De echtgenoot van CPN06 wordt in 1970 lid van de Partij van de Arbeid (tot 1991). CPN06 bezoekt bijeenkomsten van de Rooie Vrouwen en is actief bij Vrouwen voor Vrede.<br><br>De aanleiding voor dit interview was het Aletta project om levensverhalen van vrouwen vast te leggen die (actief) lid waren van de Communistische Partij Nederland (CPN) en tenminste 14 waren toen de Tweede Wereldoorlog Na de oorlog verdween echter hun aureool van moed en verzet al snel onder invloed van de Koude Oorlog.</p><p>In dit project zijn de persoonlijke ervaringen van een aantal CPN-vrouwen op beeld vastgelegd. Openhartig vertellen ze over hun politieke overtuiging, het lidmaatschap van de Communistische Partij Nederland, de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de jaren erna, toen de CPN in een isolement raakte.</p><p>In veel gevallen waren de vrouwen al vroeg bewust van de opkomst van het fascisme. Vanaf 1933 maakten zij mee hoe Duitse vluchtelingen werden opgevangen door familie of bekenden. Velen raakten een paar jaar later betrokken bij de Spaanse Burgeroorlog. Verzet bieden tegen de Duitse bezetter was voor hen een vanzelfsprekende keuze.</p><p>In de interviews vertellen zij over hun ervaringen als koerierster, distributeur van bonnenkaarten of bezorger van de illegale Waarheid. In sommige gesprekken gaat het ook over het gewapend verzet, internering en onderduik. Kenmerkend is dat alle vrouwen nadrukkelijk praten over de consequenties van dit alles voor hun verdere (politieke) leven.
