Omdat zich die in WO II niet voordeden hielpen ze met het evacueren van ziekenhuizen, én het behandelen van soldaten met “shell shock”. Ze hadden zo’n centrum in Simpelveld. Toen de aalmoezenier hoorde dat er in Margraten een oorlogsbegraafplaats geopend  werd, bracht geïnterviewde hem vaak naar het kerkhof waar de priester de mis las voor de gesneuvelden.
