Tijdens de bezetting verhuisde hij steeds naar andere plaatsen en wist buiten het kamp te blijven. Hij woonde in Soerabaja waar hij  mensen hielp met verhuizen en net als andere jongeren dingen van de Japanners stal. De geïnterviewde werkte na de capitulatie bij het Rode Kruis en later voor de civiele politie. Na de hbs ging de geïnterviewde in 1950 bij een groot bedrijf aan de slag. Hij geeft een beschrijving van de werksituatie in deze tijd.</p><p>1323.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de omstandigheden in Indië met betrekking tot zijn werk gedurende de jaren 50. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de politieke en economische situatie en vertelt over de vakbonden en stakingen. Het bedrijf is Engels en werd daardoor eind 1957 niet overgenomen. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
