Leert in het PDA het ABC van het kampleven kennen. Vertelt over zijn verhoor: begint met een bullebak en revolver op tafel, waarna een poeslieve andere ondervrager het overneemt en hem probeert over te halen de andere kant te kiezen. Beide ondervragers zijn Nederlander. Wordt ziek, krijgt in de ziekenboeg te horen dat hij op transport moet. Veroordeeld tot 7 jaar “Schutzhaft” wegens het maken van illegale krantjes. Zag dat een SS-wacht een jood liet verdrinken in de latrine. Was ingedeeld in het “Kleinholz commando”. Heeft geleerd dat je de verschrikkingen van je af moet laten glijden, anders overleef je niet. Je was totaal afhankelijk van de willekeur en luimen van de bewaking en moest er voor zorgen dat je totaal niet opviel. De ochtendappèls duurden kort, de avondappèls vaak lang. Meestal maar twee SS’ers, waren het er meer dan stond er wat te gebeuren. In de barak ’s avonds broekencontrole. Als de bewaking kwam tijdens de werkzaamheden werd er “witte muizen” geroepen. In buitencommando’s probeerde je beukennoten te zoeken voor extra voeding. Waren ook redelijke SS-ers. In de periode 1941 tot 1945 hebben ongeveer 37.000  gevangenen voor korte of langere tijd vastgezeten in dit doorgangs-, tevens strafkamp dat onder direct bevel stond van de SS.</p><p>In de loop der jaren heeft Nationaal Monument Kamp Amersfoort meer dan 100 oud-gevangenen kunnen interviewen over hun tijd in het kamp tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Dit zijn bijzondere interviews, die een indrukwekkend inkijkje geven in hoe het leven indertijd was in Kamp Amersfoort. Verhalen over strafappèls, het slechte eten, het wrede regime, maar ook over medegevangenen en hoe je als gevangene probeerde te overleven.
