Hij komt uit een arm gezin. Tijdens de bezetting blijft hij buiten het kamp. Hij vertelt hoe het gezin in het levensonderhoud probeert te voorzien. Na de bevrijding wordt hij opgepakt door Indonesiërs en gevangen gezet in de Djoenatan-gevangenis. Japanners helpen hem vrij te komen. Uiteindelijk gaat de geïnterviewde als burger aan de slag en krijgt te maken met nationalisatie. Als dit te veel wordt gaat hij naar Nederland.</p><p>1426.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt hier verder over de bersiap tijd. Hij vertelt over de evacuatie uit Semarang. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werk later bij de douane waar veel corruptie heerste. Hierna werkte hij bij Unilever. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
