In 2006 en 2010/2011 bestond de doelpopulatie uit Turkse, Marokkaanse, Antilliaanse en Surinaamse Nederlanders; in 2015 zijn daar Poolse en Somalische Nederlanders aan toegevoegd. Aan deze groepen en aan een vergelijkingsgroep van autochtone Nederlanders zijn vragen gesteld over onder meer onderwijs, arbeid, sociale contacten, culturele integratie, godsdienst, beeldvorming en gezondheid en sport.</p><p>SIM kan in sommige opzichten worden beschouwd als de opvolger van het onderzoek ‘Sociale positie en voorzieningengebruik allochtonen’ (SPVA), een onderzoek naar de sociale positie en het voorzieningengebruik van allochtonen, dat in de periode 1988 - 2002 vijfmaal is gehouden.</p><p>SIM is in 2006 voor het eerst gehouden en werd in 2010/2011 herhaald (hoofdonderzoek); er werd toen daarnaast een experiment uitgevoerd om de bruikbaarheid na te gaan van een mixed mode dataverzamelingsmethodiek (benadering via een mix van web, telefoon en face-to-face) bij onderzoek onder genoemde groepen. Bij de herhaling in 2015 is in eerste instantie een online-vragenlijst gebruikt en zijn respondenten in tweede instantie face-to-face geïnterviewd.</p><p>Deze dataset betreffen de data van het onderzoek uit 2015. Er is samengewerkt met het Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) en TNS Nipo / Veldkamp en Labyrinth.</p><p>CCF: Het databestand is een CCF (controlled circulation file), een databestand dat zodanig is bewerkt, d.w.z. variabelen verwijderd of ingedikt, dat herkenning van individuen en huishoudens uitgesloten is.</p><p>SIM2015 Versiebeheer: In de vorige versie bleken in het databestand de missing values van veel variabelen ten onrechte te zijn omgezet naar missings. In deze versie is het databestand gecorrigeerd. De missings van de betreffende variabelen zijn omgezet naar missing values en van een value label
