De geïnterviewde gaat voor zijn opleiding naar Nederland. Tijdens de oorlog hier kwam hij in dienst en raakte hij betrokken bij het verzet.</p><p>1206.2 Na de oorlog ging de geïnterviewde als bestuursambtenaar naar Indië. Hij vertelt over zijn taken en gaat in op de zoektocht naar zijn familie. Tijdens de eerste politionele actie kreeg hij tot taak in veroverd gebied een burgerlijk bestuur in te stellen. De geïnterviewde gaat in op de moeilijke omstandigheden en vertelt over de omgang met excessen. De geïnterviewde repatrieerde op een vrachtschip. In Nederland koos hij voor een functie in Nieuw-Guinea.</p><p>1206.3 De geïnterviewde vertelt over het werk als bestuursambtenaar in Nieuw-Guinea. De nieuwe omstandigheden waren een hele ervaring. De geïnterviewde vertelt uitgebreid waar hij allemaal mee te maken kreeg tijdens zijn werk en wat de moeilijkheden waren. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
