Beide ouders zijn lid van de Communistische Partij Nederland (CPN) en haar vader later van de Revolutionair-Socialistische Arbeiderspartij (RSAP). Hij wordt tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog gefusilleerd vanwege zijn activiteiten in het verzet.</p><p>Na de oorlog wordt CPN04 actief lid van de CPN. Ze is onder andere penningmeester van een afdeling en houdt de financiën bij van De Waarheid. Samen met haar echtgenoot, die ze bij de CPN ontmoet, colporteert ze en doet ze vaak mee aan demonstraties. Haar echtgenoot wordt enkele keren ontslagen vanwege zijn politieke voorkeur. Ze blijven actief tot de CPN opgaat in GroenLinks.<br><br>De aanleiding voor dit interview was het Aletta project om levensverhalen van vrouwen vast te leggen die (actief) lid waren van de Communistische Partij Nederland (CPN) en tenminste 14 waren toen de Tweede Wereldoorlog Na de oorlog verdween echter hun aureool van moed en verzet al snel onder invloed van de Koude Oorlog.</p><p>In dit project zijn de persoonlijke ervaringen van een aantal CPN-vrouwen op beeld vastgelegd. Openhartig vertellen ze over hun politieke overtuiging, het lidmaatschap van de Communistische Partij Nederland, de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de jaren erna, toen de CPN in een isolement raakte.</p><p>In veel gevallen waren de vrouwen al vroeg bewust van de opkomst van het fascisme. Vanaf 1933 maakten zij mee hoe Duitse vluchtelingen werden opgevangen door familie of bekenden. Velen raakten een paar jaar later betrokken bij de Spaanse Burgeroorlog. Verzet bieden tegen de Duitse bezetter was voor hen een vanzelfsprekende keuze.</p><p>In de interviews vertellen zij over hun ervaringen als koerierster, distributeur van bonnenkaarten of bezorger van de illegale Waarheid. In sommige gesprekken gaat het ook over het gewapend verzet, internering en onderduik. Kenmerkend is dat alle vrouwen nadrukkelijk praten over de consequenties van dit alles voor hun verdere (politieke) leven.
