Het gezin was naar Nederland vetrokken en vanuit daar ging de geïnterviewde als militair naar Indië. Hier werd de geïnterviewde ingedeeld bij de T-brigade, die bestond uit vrijwilligers, onder andere stoottroepen uit Nederland die meegevochten hadden met de geallieerden. De geïnterviewde vertelt vervolgens over zijn ervaringen van de politionele acties.</p><p>1669.2 De geïnterviewde werd in 1950 gedemobiliseerd en had moeite verder inrichting aan zijn leven te geven wat betreft werk. De situatie in Indië had hem ontmoedigd. Indonesië trok hem en koos voor een functie daar bij de KPM. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
