Currently, nearly 160 countries have imposed GST/VAT in some form or the other. Some countries have VAT as an alternative to GST. Yet, conceptually, it is a destination-based tax imposed on the consumption of goods and services. GST is a tax that replaced many indirect taxes in India. Goods and Services Tax was implemented in India from 1 July 2017. Here in India, most of the population is middle class and lower middle class where people either belong to service class or they depend on agriculture for their livelihood.
