Hij gaat in op het optimisme aan het begin van de bezetting. De geïnterviewde maakte de bezetting als jonge jongen mee. Hij bleef bij zijn moeder in huis wonen. Begin 1946 kwam de geïnterviewde met een groep anderen in de gevangenis terecht omdat hij tegen de Japanse regering was.</p><p>1245.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn tijd in de Glodok gevangenis. Hij weigerde nog steeds om aan de kant van de Japanners te gaan staan. Na de bevrijding pakte hij zijn leven weer op. In 1946 vertrok hij naar Nederland en vervolgde hier zijn schooltijd en ging in dienst.</p><p>1245.3 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn uitzending naar Nieuw-Guinea. Hij was officier administratie van de marinierskazernes. De geïnterviewde beschrijft de situatie in Nieuw-Guinea en gaat in op zijn contact met Papoea's. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek. Tussen 1997 en 2001 zijn er 1190 interviews met 724 mensen opgenomen, in totaal 2800 uur aan geluidsmateriaal.</p><p>Een overzicht van het project en de interviews in EASY vindt u onder 'Data files'.</p><p>De interviews worden bij DANS duurzaam bewaard, maar worden (voorlopig) door het KITLV zelf ontsloten.
