Het was een familiebedrijf waar zijn opa ook nog in stond tot hij moest stoppen vanwege gezondsheidsklachten. Toen nam de vader van Joop Rinckes het over totdat ook hij moest stoppen vanwege zijn gezondheid. Zelf heeft Joop Rinckes ook altijd last gehad van zijn maag. Als kind is hij eraan geopereerd en moest hij bed houden vanwege maagklachten. Nadat hij goede medicatie kreeg voorgeschreven, moet hij nog steeds opletten, maar is er prima mee te leven.<br>Eigenlijk had hij de advocatuur in willen gaan. Hij kon ook goed leren en had zijn woordje bij zich. Op zeventienjarige leeftijd werd zijn vader zo ziek dat hij de HBS vaarwel heeft gezegd en de bakkerszaak is ingegaan. Hij wekt de indruk dat hij spijt heeft van die keuze.<br>Hij heeft er in ieder geval nog nooit een dag werk door gemist. Dat kon volgens hem ook niet. De bakkerij liep goed. Eerst ging hij met de bakkersfiets rond en naderhand is hij begonnen te leveren aan de grote bedrijven. Hij beseft dat de tijd van de wederopbouw voor hem als ondernemer ‘Gouden Jaren’ zijn geweest. Het kon alleen maar beter. Het interview is doorspekt met verhalen over ooms in het verzet, handige handeltjes en producten die ‘op de bon’ waren in en na de oorlog.<br>Het Bazenbondje kent hij vooral van vroeger. Zijn beide grootvaders, vader en hijzelf waren lid van ‘Ons Belang’. Zijn vader en opa hebben zelf nog weleens een uitkering aangevraagd en gekregen. Zelf komt hij niet meer naar de vergaderingen. Hij voelt zich als één van de laatsten van een generatie<br>wellicht niet helemaal meer thuis meer op de vergaderingen en dat wordt versterkt door de maagklachten die op de achtergrond blijven sluimeren. Ook zegt hij het Bazenbondje niet belangrijk te vinden, hoogstens gezellig.
