De opleiding was hard en degelijk. Eind 1945 was hij klaar voor Indië en ging hij op de Evertsen naar Batavia, Cheribon en Soerabaja. In de Straat Bali raakte de Evertsen geregeld in vuurgevecht met Indonesisch geschut aan wal. Als matroos maakte deze man ook de eerste Politionele Actie mee. Na een beschieting bij Grisee wordt deze man met andere aan land gebracht en ziet hij hoe slecht de bevolking in de kampongs eraan toe is, qua gezondheid. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
