Hij gaat in op wat hij meekreeg van de verschillende bevolkingsgroepen in Indië. De geïnterviewde vertelt over de periode dat hij ging studeren en de oorlog in Indië op komst was.</p><p>1172.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt over de aanloop naar de Japanse inval. Hij moest toen opkomen voor militaire dienst. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn internering. Hij wist te ontsnappen uit het kamp en kwam uiteindelijk terecht bij een verzetsbeweging. Uiteindelijk had de Kenpeitai hem gevonden. De geïnterviewde lag meer dan twee jaar in een ziekenhuis. Hij beschrijft wat hij daar meemaakte en hoe stiekem via de radio het nieuws over de atoombommen op Japan binnenkwam. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe hij anderen na de capitulatie hielp en vertelt over zijn werk voor de KDP.</p><p>1172.3 De geïnterviewde werd gevraagd om in Nieuw-Guinea aan de slag te gaan. Zijn taak betrof het gehele gebied. De geïnterviewde schets een beeld van hoe Nieuw-Guinea er toen op werkgebied uit zag. Hij vertelt over de werkzaamheden van de Papoea's en hoe de rekrutering ging. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
